Photographer’s Note

Location: driving from Niyama hills towards Gudaygiti.
A few women were resting alongside the road.
They belonged to the Kutia Kondh tribes.
Their villages are known for its beautiful women.
Centuries ago the Maradja attacked the villages in order to fill up their harem(s).
As countermeasure the women started to tattoo their faces. They still do.
Looking at my subject: to no avail.

On the picture: I could have cropped more tight but then I would loose the hands so I preferred not to.

I’ll explain the title tomorrow when I post a second picture of the group.
