Photographer’s Note
Location: driving from Niyama hills towards Gudaygiti.
A few women were resting alongside the road.
They belonged to the Kutia Kondh tribes.
Their villages are known for its beautiful women.
Centuries ago the Maradja attacked the villages in order to fill up their harem(s).
As countermeasure the women started to tattoo their faces. They still do.
Looking at my subject: to no avail.
On the picture: I could have cropped more tight but then I would loose the hands so I preferred not to.
I’ll explain the title tomorrow when I post a second picture of the group.

Fascinating note - if either of my daughters wants to tatoo herself, I'll warn her that these women do so to keep "THE BOYS" away.
I think u made the right choice - to keep the hands in. I look forward to tomorrow's posting.

She is really extraordinary, a proud woman! Does she have lots of little earings? Well done to save her hands!

Alfred, great work again, wonderful contrast and contour against the foliage blur, with a little sprinkle of pink for image seasoning.
Definitely going to Orissa, if in India!

I do appreciate this image for the clarity of detailing, the contrast between the relative darkness of the women's skin set against the subtle background which works to make her stand out strongly in the image, and the amazing coloring of the women itself. A master piece. Bring more to the community.
