Photographer’s Note
From a batch of pictures i took near Puri where farmers where cleaning out a forest in order to build a temple.
I asked the permission of the guy to take his picture which he granted with a snag of the head.
But he refused to look at me. He knew what he was doing as after one minute he smiled even for a second.
The composition was however quite good so after a minute or 2 I said by myself "go to hell" and took his picture.
Still a pitty however that the picture doesn't catches his eye - Al

I agree that teh result is outstanding, a smile may not have looed so natural. Good overall framing

i prefer shots where your subject is looking away, but they have to be tighter. This is a nice shot but it has some overexposure - and since he was apothetic anyway you should have just gotten closer.

I find the textures in this photo to be its best point. The texture of the hay stack, and on the ground, the man's lungi rough homespun, and his shirt.
Even the skin on his arm, and his short beard.
A pleasing composition of a rather sombre worker.
Thanks Alfred.

The zoom lens served you well, of course catching him close enough but with the sense of distance you talked about in your note.
Textures are definitely nice, and I like the fcat that he is excatly at the separation between haystack and green foliage behind him. It brings him out even better.

Good photograph Alfred. Well compsed and I don't think that the lack of a smile is bad here. I think his expression here might have more impact to this image than a smile would.
Anyway good work!

Dit is een zeer heldere en duidelijke photo mooi gecomponeerd en diep van kleuren. Prachtig hoe je je ook betrokken voelt in het beeld iets wat je zelden hier tegenkomt. Mooi gedaan Alfred.

Wonderful picture.
With the man's eye shown, your photo should be in National Photographic Magazine.
Congrats!
