Photographer's Note

On the way to weekly Koraput market, in a tiny street with very few houses, I spotted a girl that was drawing some rangolis, in front of her home. (Rangolis are a traditional decorative folk art, in India, found in front of homes or in the courtyards, that are meant as for sacred welcoming to the hindus deities... but this is another story). I stopped, to look her work and admire her dexterity. She was very sweet and friendly. The family gathered and they allowed me to enter in the courtyard to take a picture from a different POV. That's where I made contact with the mother, who was sitting on the porch. Immediately, I was fascinated by her bangles! I wanted the same ones, LOL! (By the way, later, I searched all around the narrow paths of Varanasi, to find similar ones! And, eventually, I did, hehe. But, to be true, it looks much more terrific on a dark skin!)

So, here, are the hands of the mother with her bangles. For me, an attractive mix of tradition and modernity.
