Photographer’s Note

This is a scanned picture. Taken with Pentax ME - 70-150 zoom. There is lake called Kaber near district head quarter Begusarai. It is a huge reservoir of water rich with marine vegetation and migratory birds. The tourists generally come to take boat ride and so do monkeys in hoards expecting eatables.
The interiors of Bihar is densely populated with extremely poor people, living life of hardship and exploitation. They were three kids busy playing when I called them for pose. Two ran away (wary of small town tourists) - the third, this little girl turned around to give her precious smile.
From what she is wearing and her unkempt state, her background is quite evident. But her smile simply out of the world she is living.
In the last three years Bihar has witnessed some much delayed progress. But I am not sure how this girl would be after ten years of being photographed!
