Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken in a small village just across the dry river bed from the famous city of Bodhgaya, the sight of the Buddha's enlightenment. Contrary to Bodhgaya though, this little village was almost devoid of any garbage. The houses are small, mostly of brick and mud, with many occupants per household, after enquiries. The fuel for cooking is buffalo and cow dung which is made into paddies and dried in the sun. The job itself looks unappealling, but seems to be done with no complaint. We were escorted through this village by two brothers of 18 and 19, who wanted to show us their home village, and the small school there.
