Photographer’s Note
The gallows in the Cellular Jail at Port Blair in Andamans, India. This is now a National Museum. I went as a casual tourist, walked towards this cell and saw the gallows. It hit my conscience and I literally shivered. The jail record says that thousands including Indian freedom fighters were hanged here. The records were destroyed when Japanese occupied the Andaman in 1942. After seeing this site as well as killing fields in Cambodia, I am now seriously doubting human's capacity to remain humane. The background wooden doors was actually blue in colour. Using PS I made it dark to highlight the gallows. In TE's category I could not find an appropriate category. Hence I placed it under Ruins-Ruins of Human Civilization
