Photographer's Note

Adivasi girl from Dhurwa standing in front of her hut - in a small village near Jagdalpur. Unfortunatelly her husband wasn't present so she didn't let us in.

Adivasi (tribal) people are indigenous population of India, that means they lived here even before it was colonized by Hindus. They keep their own tradition and beliefs, they also belong to different ethnic group than Hindu Indians.
For centuries (or rather thousands of years) they lived in forests, in complete or almost complete isolation from outside World. In recent times they situation is worsening, as with the growth of Indian population they are being deprived of their land.
Currently their status in the Indian society is similar to this of dalits ("untouchables"), that means very low.

nice portrait. I the framing is good, standing in the doorway. also the combo of the soft blue wall and her strong orange sari. nice job.

her looks are so direct and makes the pic more powerful.altough she looks so young ,it is surprising to read the absence of her husband in your notes.so young marriages !

Every time I am lucky to read such an informative note, I try to lie to myself about age, because I know there still be too much things in life to learn and to explore.

Today, you photo and note make my day. Not only a note to google for more info, the quality of your picture is a lesson for me to stop longer and study the technique...

a great one !
i love this portrait ,she looks at you so naturally but doesn't seem so confortable in front of the camera.
i like the beauty and sensuality of the nude shoulder soft colored.

Ci co przede mna zawitali na twoja strone podali pietnascie roznych powodow dla ktorych to zrobili.
Powodem dla mnie klikniecia na thumbnail byl jej prawie odsloniety i niesamowicie sexy - prawy biust.
I dopiero potem, po otwarciu zdjecia, moge zreferowac moja opinie. A jest taka ze to zdjecie mowi bardzo duzo. A twoja nota jeszcze bardziej podburza wyobraznie. Oto ONA...Jest mloda, bardzo urodziwa, z wykletej kasty pariasow, sama w domu, nie chce was wpuscic bo nie ma meza, ale wyszla przed prog, niesmiala ale cyc piekny widac, uwodzicielska i nie znika na widok aparatu...nic z tego nie rozumiem, ale zdjecie ciekawe i warto bylo zajrzec.
