Photographer's Note

This photograph belongs to the GANGREL DAM, in the state of Chattisgarh. Though the dam is not visible, the photo seeks to capture the river Mahanadi and the road on the dam which spans across the water stretch.

The nearest town to the dam is Dhamtari which is nearly 15 kms away. The 1246m dam is a powerhouse of action handling 15000 cusec water, and feeding nearly 57,000 hectares of agricultural land around Dhamtari, Raipur, Durg and Bhilai, all important cities of the state.

Mahanadi river is one of the most important rivers of India and is about 850 kms in length.

This photo is from the archives, taken with a primitive Powershot, so please excuse the lack of finer details.
