Metekhi Church and King Vakhtang Gorgasali’s statue seen from the banks of river Mtkvari.
Including another POV in the WS.

An interesting part of the story in Wikipedia is that amid the Great Purges, the Georgian Communist chief Lavrenti Pavlovich Beria intended to destroy the church as well, but met a stubborn opposition by a group of Georgian intellectuals led by the painter and art collector Dimitri Shevardnadze (not related to Eduard Shevardnadze). Beria replied to their urges, that it would surely be enough to preserve a scale model of the church so that people could see it in a museum, and then is said to have told Shevardnadze privately that if he gave up his efforts to save the church he would be appointed director of the future museum. The artist refused and was imprisoned and executed (Ami Knight, p. 84). The building was preserved, however. In the later part of Soviet period the church was used as a theatre. The equestrian statue of King Vakhtang I Gorgaslan by the sculptor Elguja Amashukeli was erected in front of the church in 1961.

Picture taken in B&W mode, and PP with tritone.

The statue of the horse has a vantage point right on the cliff. I like this compositiion because of its good balance and good plaement of elements. The building is a main focal point as is the horse and both attract the attention ver well. The good details and dual colours work well to create a dramatic mood here. Nice work Jorge.

I'd like to see more detail in the shadows. The silhouette of the king is good, but the building could use a bit more exposure.

Excelente trabajo, saludos.

Still enjoying the less attended Sophia, I like the pleasant capture of the staure here in counterlight at the foot of this church, the view turned to a dramatic sepia supporting the history of it, well done Jorge.

Hi, Jorge.
Seems like a photogram from a Dracula movie. A mysterious mood, given by a careful composition.

Hi Jorge,
Great colour tone, looks like the dark medevil ages. Could also be a part of a Dracula movie.
The way you composed this is very good. The statue is very good placed int he frame, looks like a kind of gatekeeper for the church...great composition.
Regards, Henk
