Photographer’s Note
This abandoned village in the Caucasus is situated high up in the mountains of Tusheti.
It is close to the border of Chechnya, just past the last military checkpoint.
It was famous for the fierce warriors defending there village to invaders. For example the Monguls and the Turks.
The defending towers you can see are hundreds of years old, probably dating back to the 14th or 15th century.
