Photographer’s Note
Going to the New Aphon the most of people want to see the famous monastery and not less famous cave which is one of the longest in the world. As for us we'll go by the opposite road which leads to the stone cell of Simon Kananit apostle and which you can see on my picture. Here the road crosses the narrow river Psyrtsha by the small bridge. A natural grotto in gorge of Psyrtsha where apostle lived in 53-55 AC until his murder. Sometimes many of tourists here, but mostly it's reigned with silence. Apostle Simon has been killed nearby from here.
Today the cave walls are coted with ancient mosaics, images of crosses, inscriptions and icons. The apses (Abkhazia local people) worshipped to this place even through turkish domination and Soviet time. Hope you enjoy that nice and silent place.

Nice place and nice shot. You probably lost some detail resizing the image. There are som many details in the image.
I think the large image is probably far better (or can be sharpened enough). Well done.

Hi Dennis,
Your photo and description make me want to go visit there. Even if I can't, I feel like i'm there already. Technically, good DOF and composition. It is a little overexposed, but it's a difficult shot with the sunlight coming through the trees. Good job!
