Photographer’s Note
Equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the founder of Tbilisi, with the Narikala Fortress in the background.
The equestrian statue of King Vakhtang I Gorgaslan was erected by the sculptor Elguja Amashukeli in front of the Metekhi Church in 1961. This statue is located on the elevated cliff that overlooks the Mtkvari river.
Picture taken in B&W mode, and PP with tritone.

Belle image avec une profondeur de champ très bien gérée. Le choix du noir est blanc donne encore plus de force à ce personnage qui arrive vers cette citadelle.

Hello Jorge -
This is an interesting image on several levels. I like the conversion to B&W - it suits the image well. The strong side light has given this image several different layers to look at each with something different in lighting techniques. The partial silhouette in the FG with rim lighting really works it could almost be a separated image. But, the contrasty light in BG also works I think there are very few situations where this situation works. Maybe the B&W conversion helped the contrasty light. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Your BW work is very good in this one.
The DOF is pleasant, and the great contrasts add a lot to the image.
Beautiful,

Hello Jorge, the fortress of Narikala (which impressive via the lien)semble like is amalgamated with the ground, this photograph proposes a very particular point of view to us or all these elements interact between them, that creates a framework superbly carried out with the hill strongly tilted in front of which throne the equestrian Statue of King Vakhtang, the rider seems to make sign in direction of the church of Metekhi for beautiful a screw-have-screw or two monuments imposing are in opposition what still adds to the originality of the place, a singular massive aspect arises particularly well with the black and white, sincerely......................Bonjour Jorge, la forteresse de Narikala (qui est impressionnante via le lien)semble comme fusionnée avec le terrain, cette photo nous propose un point de vue très particulier ou tous ces éléments interagissent entre eux, cela crée un cadre superbement réalisé avec la colline fortement incliné devant laquelle trône la Statue équestre du Roi Vakhtang, le cavalier semble faire signe en direction de l'église de Metekhi pour un beau vis-as-vis ou deux monuments imposant sont en opposition ce qui ajoute encore à l’originalité de l’endroit, un singulier aspect massif ressort particulièrement bien avec le noir et blanc, bien amicalement

Hi Jorge -clever angle excluding the urban elements, there is no indication that this is in the middle of a large city, the BW gives it an interesting vintage quality.

A very nice and moody photography of the city of Tbilisi and the staute of its founder. The monochromatic choice is effectful. The composition is nice to have the church as a backdrop although I question of the placement of the statue so much in the center. Wasn't there any possibility to 2-3 steps to the right and get it mor off center?
