‘Tbilisi - The lookout’
From the ruins of the Narikala Fortress the views over Tbilisi are stunning.
High on the cliffs along the Mtkvari River stands the Metekhi Church. See also my previous post.
A little further a lot of beautiful old houses with their balconies hanging over the depth.
In the workshop you find another picture of these houses but then taken down at the river bank.

Hi Paul. Incredible POV with lots of impact as so much is incorporated. One thing that I am happy about is that money is being spent on the cherished and beautiful old part of the city after years of neglect. it has always been my dream to go to Gruzia and this photo makes me want to go even more. The workshop is great also and more evidence of restoration. Regards. Klaudio.

This is a wonderful bird's-eye-view. It allows us to really understand the precipitous location of the city.
You have composed it carefully, so that the tower is strongly positioned, giving the impression that it is surveying or protecting the layout below.
The river makes a strong f/g triangle and is instrumental in creating a thirds separation line. Excellent dof giving sharp, accessible details.
Have a great day,

the lookout point is just great and provides us with really magnificent view of Tbilisi(btw.the city has lovely location on the steep cliff along the river.I didn´t realize it´s so picturesque)
Superb composition!I like how the river divides the scene into two parts.
Strong graphical presentation with many, many interesting details to discover.
Have a nice sunday

nella foto si fa notare soprattutto la composizione con la contrapposizione delle fortezza con la chiesa separate dalla diagonale del fiume.
Belli i colori, assai delicati,m ed eccellente la nitidezza.
Ben dosato anche il contrasto.
Ciao e buona domenica

All these building seem to balance right on the edges along the river. You have captured a good balance between these old buildings on each side with the green river as a diagonal between them. Well seen!

This is a great view of very picturesque old Tbilisi. This photo shows very well why this area is such a fascinating place to wander around. I stayed somewhere on the hill behind the church and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the architecture. The colours and light management are very good.

Another perfect birdseye view from Tblisi.
Very good pov and layout.
Nice to see that the scenery is not yet been "polluted" by modern architecture.
TFS and best regards

Prendre de la hauteur pour pouvoir magnifier cette vue exceptionnelle, bravo !
Difficile de trouver meilleur endroit pour restituer l'ensemble architectural mélangeant les styles de la ville.
Un pur régal à contempler.

A marvelous view from a high location, over town and the river it was built along.
Steep banks cliff, impressive in view and fine clear details of the town-houses on top's.
Excelent clarity and light managed, the fortified edifice is an amazing architecture's jewel, special in style.
Fine shot, Ike

I can see a lot of similarities between the churches of Armenia and the Ani Kars area of eastern Turkey which was formerly part of Armenia. Good sharpness and a superb high pov. I really must load some of my shots of the area one day. Have a great week!

The colorful buildings are on the edge of the cliff, a little bit scary, but beautifully. You leave a portion of picture for the old fortress. The composition is excellent.

Superb this perspective, it seems almost an aerial view, magnifies the contradistinction between the torreon of the fortress and the church, across the river, the beautiful colors of the houses in the city, are an ideal complement to the composition.
Perfect management of both the lighting, and the good sharpness.
Very well done. I love it.
Have a good night.

Hello Paul - I am fascinated by the way the houses are built right on the cliff edge here and wonder why. There must be a reason apart from testing the skill of the builders! What a fine viewpoint and a wonderful collection of buildings. I know absolutely nothing about this part of the world so your post has piqued my interest. Thanks for that, Rosemary

mkamionka (27115) 2013-10-16 5:52
it seems like there are plenty of beautiful and interesting places to see in Tbilisi. Great POV here and a nice composition with the lookout tower in the foreground. The river bank seems so high and verical. Houses on the other side so pretty and stylish.
Very well done,

Wonderful view of the city from this high POV! Excellent colors and sharpness, and interesting architecture of the houses down there! Beautiful composition! Very good job!
rychem (13740) 2013-10-19 8:44
Charming architecture of this old city, with the hight POV you have created an unique photo of the fortress, compliments
adores (30855) 2013-10-23 16:53
Usually I don't see many photos of this city. The architecture seems really interesting. Your pov is very good, you captured not just part of the fortress, but also the church and houses on the opposite bank of the river - the way they are built on the rocks is really impressive
Angshu (52956) 2013-10-29 0:33
The church in your previous post is virtually very different in this shot. A good interesting POV from a high POV with the rampart of the fort creating a strong FG. Thanks for the nice WS post as well!
