Photographer's Note

A Georgian shopkeeper resting in the doorway while waiting for customers. I didn't enter the shop but judging from the variety of goods he kept in the street I can only imagine that there was a lot more inside.

This is from a small town called Akhaltsikhe in the southwestern part of Georgia, a short distance from the border with Turkey. Akhaltsikhe, with a population of about 20 000, is the capital of Samtskhe-Javakheti province, a mountaineous area of great natural beauty with magnificent ruins of medieval fortresses adorning many hilltops.

Since I haven't found any earlier pictures of Akhaltsike on Trekearth, except for a few portraits, I will show two views from the town as workshops.
