Photographer’s Note

This is famous Shatili village in remote Khevsuretia in northern Georgia. It is 2 km from Chechenya border (Georgian-Russian). The village consists of small fortified strongold where inhabitants of the village used to shelter inside along with their herds during frequent attacks from neighbouring teritories like Chechenia, Dagestan, Tushetia. Electricity arrived to the village two years ago, but to get there it is still an experience. You need to drive along narrow mountain track more than 100km thru the beatiful Caucasus mountains.
The person in the foreground is one of our companion whom we left in Shatili for couple of days. He hired a horse and visited Tushetia. In the meantime we drove to Azerbaijan.
