The remote Khevsuretian village of Shatili, an outstanding monument of Georgian construction art, is located on the north slope of the main Caucasian ridge, in the deep Arghuni gorge at approximately 1,400 meters, at only 3 miles from the Chechen border. The village, lying on the cliff, functioned both as a residential area and a fortress. Some 60 towers cluster together to create a single, protective fortress. The terraced structures are dominated by flat-roofed dwellings and towers. The extreme sides of the village are provided with a row of fortified dwellings standing next to each other to protect the village. Shatili is still inhabited by a dozen or so families, but is inaccessible by road during wintertime.

Zdravo Attila. I was wondering in what far flung corner of the world were you now. Gruzia- I envy you. Such history, such topography and i am sure a glass of local wine is giving you a bounce to your steps as you negotiate the terrain. Impressive pov, light, colours and of course the details. Regards.

A fotó minősége kiváló, a képkivágás szuper. Nagyszerű kezdés egy izgalmas sorozathoz. Gratulálok, és szép hetet Kívánok!

Hi Attila,
What a view an wild place! The title is very appropriate, because the image has indeed a strong medieval mood, reminding me of the set of some historic movie. Well, at least until we notice the electric wires, but them don't do any harm.
Very wise pov, great light, so and so sharpness.

Hi Attila,
This is indeed such a remote and little known region that it is with real pleasure that we can view a photo such as this. I like your POV here, with the rushing river, the path on the left and the village buildings almost built into the cliff. The steep green face of the hillside to the left really adds much body and enhancement to the overall scene. Well captured...later.

Attila, I love this, the detail is fantastic and the cloud over the mid ground really gives the shot wonderful depth. The little house in the fg looks out of place at first but on closer inspection the construction materials are such that it could be an old place like the fortress. Magnificent location, well seen.

Hello Attila,
Good to see you back here on TE, and always with something from a remote place, something that we are not used to see when opening the galleries. I red your note carefully, as I read all of them, as they really bring us interesting details and explains us what the photo is about and after this I just can say be fascinated by the photo with the view of the village, by the river that flows and this littl ebridge that makes possible to access the village.
Once again I have to congratulate you for the amazing work you do on bringing us remote places that I would never dream about.
Cheers.
