Photographer’s Note

Spent a few days in Georgia recently where I had the chance to take a few shots of Georgian life both in the mountains and in Tbilisi, the capital. Georgia is an amazing country with such a diverse landscape and unique customs and traditions. I only wish I could have spent more time there!

On our way down from Gudauri we stopped ever so briefly (enough time for the driver to have a quick smoke of course) at a monastery overlooking a lake where there were a few people selling traditional Georgian products.

These are typical hats made of sheep wool sold all along the roadsides in the mountains. We weren't able to speak to the people very much since most only spoke Georgian, but I found on wikipedia that these are called papakhi - which literally means a Georgian wool hat.

I was attracted to how these hats sat perched on the stick reaching for the perfect blue sky just hoping to be purchased.
