Photographer’s Note

Dartlo village is located in the wild and remote Tusheti region in North-East Georgia, hard up against the Chechen/Dagestani border.

This was taken from the smaller settlement of Kvalo, a steep 45 minute walk directly up from Dartlo.

The old towers were used in times of invasion - in Tusheti, the invaders were historically the Lezgin people from Dagestan.
