Photographer’s Note
Dartlo is a small village high in the mountains in the Tusheti region in the North East. Not far from the border of Chechnya and Daghestan. There are still a few families living there.
The towers were used as lookout and defensive towers. As they suggest there was a lot of raiding and warfare going on in these mountains.
