Photographer’s Note
This simple act is often seen apart from the city life in rural China. A brick of coal, still needing to burn down, supplies the heat for the kettles water. The kettle, well used, will supply the morning breakfast with whatever hot water brings. Daily life, years old, slowly lost as modern age tools replace these.

Hi David,
Very good essay into the daily life of the Chinese people. I like your composition and the downward POV. Did you arrange the utensils or is that where they were. Bit intimadating writing crituqes for a Professor. From me AAA+

hello david,
I love this shot for it's simplicity and telling quality of a life slowly disappearing.
Great composition with the steps placed on the diagonal and well framed.
Very nice!
