[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A restored/ rebuilt section of the Great Wall captured during a walk between the JinShanLing and SiMaTai sections of the wall around 150km north of Beijing.

One thing I've realised during my time living in China is that China doesn't really do restoration/ rennovation; at worst it does demolition, and at best it does either nothing or rebuilding. This is the latter of course and hugely preferential to the former!
As you walk further towards the SiMaTai part of the wall, you pass through a huge section of it that has not been touched yet and looks a lot different to here.
Nothing interesting to say about taking the photo, it's a snapshot I guess!
Let me know what you think!

Ni hao Lee,

Might be a snapshot, but it's not a bad one at all and together with the note certainly worth the upload.

You're spot on about your remarks on 'Chinese restoration', although the big sights in Beijing do seem to be an exception. I guess the argument is: "Why restore? Let's do a proper job and build the damn thing again!"

The Chinese have been doing this for ages and ages, much to the frustration of westerners who like to pinpoint a 'year of construction', an exact date when a building is 'finished'.

Hello Lee, very nice shot, I like the framing you made by the window. The colors are vivid and beautiful and the light very well managed. Thanks for sharing
Best regards,

I like the framing here, as well as the colors and architecture. It all seems to work well together! Thanks!

Hardly a snapshot as you've taken the trouble to frame it nicely and compose it carefully. The frame-within-a-frame concept works really well and the lead-in of the wall, sweeping up to the guardhouse is well-handled. A lovely shot!

it's fine this frame with a windows, nice colors also

Hi Lee,
I like this framing, the sunlight was perfect for this, it was a good choice of POV, in my opinion.
The composition is very beautiful!
You've acted promptly, at the right moment, in the right place!
Bravo!

Lee,
It's been a long time since I was in China, but this photo reminds me of all the little windows like this that I saw. I only had a point-and-shoot camera at the time, so all my attempts at capturing images like this failed. Well done. I think the photo shows how the builders of the great wall would frame an image of their masterpiece.
