Photographer’s Note
This is a view of Hong Kong harbour with a Chinese junk passing through, the building at the bottom centre is the Hong Kong opera house & it is based on Sydneys famous opera house, the other boat was based on a dragon & was ferrying people around the bay, this shot was taken in mid afternoon & it was red hot.

Hi Wilson,
I'm always surprised to see the Hong Kong harbour without a heavy fog covering it.
This clear view allows an outstanding colour cast, cold and metallic, while the junk and his red sails stand out powerfully. The new Opera House is an amazing architectural realization and it contributes so much to the stunning beauty of this cityscape.
Good composition, with the junk in an extreme corner - I really like that. The only thing that I would correct would be the perspective, as a slight tilt is perceived on the buildings near the frame and to cut out the bell buoy, as it appears like a parasite, half cut, half in the image. Two little operation very easy to do and that would assure a perfect shot.
Cheers!

Hello Wilson,
A very beautiful picture of the harbour with a nice contrast between the modern buildings and the Chinese junk and the other boat.
I like the fact that both boats contrast in colour with the buildings but also contrast in design with each other.

Hi Wilson
Wonderful picture of the Hong Kong harbor. Love the contrast of the boats and the skyscrapers. When I was in Hong Kong in 1968 the Opera wasn’t builded. I cannot believe how much it change. Love the sharpness of the picture. The composition is excellent.

Hello Wilson,
I like the composition with the skyline as background for the harbour activity!
The red sails are eye-catchers, and the angle of light add some 3-D effect to the architecture...
A well balanced composition with good details!

Hi Wilson,
Excellent view and capture of differences between authentic ship, sail and "modern" city scrapers. Good usage of low lights with shining facades and slightly foggy weather there but red sail is really eye catching. Very good capture, congratulations.

Hi Wilson,
this grey background with the two colours spots is well done. The light gives the city a special glance of being unreal, flat and the ships on the water give life and reality. Interesting moment of light.

What a licky guy you are , I went there about 5 times and never had a sunny day...
The sunny atmosphere gives to all these buildings a wonderful metalic silver aspect. The boat in the foreground is perfectly placed and the red sails are great.

Hong Kong one of the most beautiful modern cities.
But a pity for the persistent smoke above these city.
Happy that the boat use sails and wind, this gives less smoke.
Nice sky line and good composition.

Hi, Wilson. I like the contrast between the modern buildings and these two boats, which look rather traditional. The red sails of the ship on the right stand well out against the grey background of the bskyscrapers. Interesting to see all those skyscrapers on the sea front. A good composition with the junk nicely placed in the left corner.

Hello Wilson, okay, I have to ask, did you cut the saturation in the buildings behind the boats to make them stand out like this? Whether you did or not, I guess is immaterial, this works well. The two boats, especially the junk, "pop" in this shot. This is a very good composition with excellent lines and colour. And I like the tie into the junk with your frame.
Thanks, John

Wilson I am quite surprised to see the Philips and Olympus sign on these buildings in China. I guess that English is the global language and I am well imagine that there are many signs at the Olympics showing English translations that may or may not be close to the intended meaning. I recently received an interesting email showing how China is not ready for the Olympics in this matter. For example calling Starbucks Coffee Starbutts Coffee to name just a few.
The photo capture including the bright red sails in soft blue tones in teh background brings an interesting feel about this photo. All is well done and wonderfully executed. Thanks for sharing.
Question for you. Is the pollution in Hong Kong terrible?

I like the effect the heat haze is having on the buildings, giving them a kind of drawn look. The orange sails of the junk and the red of the boat almost give the image that partially de-saturated look. Very attractive
