Photographer’s Note
The month of June marks the “Bike to Work” promotion across Switzerland. Teams of colleagues are encouraged to sign up, to agree to cycle to work at least half of all working days, and those completing the challenge are entered into a prize draw. With warm sunshine, fresh air and the feeling of summer arriving, what more incentive do you need to get out on your bike?
I’m not sure whether this lady is actually cycling to work, but if she is, then I wish I could feel so calm and composed as this when on my way to the office….

Hi Susanna,
A beautiful capture in a fantastic scenery. I like your composition, which includes a good perspective with the bridge, nice reflections of the karstic formations in the water, the mountains themselves and of course, the biker, in red... perfectly matching with the green of the vegetation and a perfectly chinese color. Well done!

Marine

Susanna,
Somehow I've contrived to miss all your China shots (thus far) - which is why I found your note about cycling to work in Swizterland - coupled to a picture in China - so confusing. Mind you, I'm pretty easy to confuse (sometimes).
Putting that to one side. I really like the shot, the fantastic scenery on show really benefits from being treated as the backdrop to every day life in this shot, rather than as a subject unto itself, emptied of the local populace. I like this approach - although I never use it myself ;)
Regards
Colin

Bonjour Susanna,
Cette image est fabuleuse. Par le cadrage parfait, les couleurs en harmonie, les reflets tout en nuances...
... Les esprits chargins trouveront le ciel un peu gris... mais tu en as tiré le meilleur profit.
Superbe

Hi Susanna,
a perfect composition with these misty mountains, reflected in the water. Great perspective and light. Only remark: I think I would have "uplighted" the cyclist a little bit to make her stand out more, but to show you what I mean I've made you a little WS. TFS

Hello Susanna,
I like a lot the composition with as an anchor this lady in red doing bike and the bridge driving the look to the background and so to the moutains. the reflections on the river close the loop sending again to the lady.

Hi Susanna
This place looks quite magical with the faint silhouettes and reflections. The timing on the cyclist and her shadows is excellent. Great depth too thanks to your pov along the path and having the people in the background.
It'll be nice to catch up with you again.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Hello Susanna,
I like the form of hte mountains in the background. The refection is also a plus. But the darkness of the biker is not very good. I know that you are opposite to the sun, But the face of the biker and the trees on the back is not good. It was, for me, better to take the picture a bit down so the face will be in the mountains.
Well done.

Susanna,
I saw this image at the day you posted it, but for some reason I forgot to write a critique. I t mighthave been the combination of awe and running out of the nice little green faces.
I love the composition of this image, your title and finally the title of your travelogue. I just wonder why only 9 million bicycles and not somehwere in the 1 billion range ... ?
The different WS gives each a different aspect to your image and yet the original is so good that I would wish that it would be my shot in my gallery ;-)

Hi Susanna,
Despite the thousands of photos I have seen and commented since I'm on this site, I'm still impressed day after day. This is the kind of shots that renew my enthusiasm, with exotic locations, well composed photo and striking point of view.
Yes Susanna, your image is a pure delight, so visually appealing! It's obvious that you didn't improvise this one, this ain't no snapshot...
Carefully chosen frame, awesome background, wonderful reflections and just enough patience to catch this Chinese biker dressed in red, both for the symbolism and the "attention-getter detail".
The hazy light and perspective are two cherries on top of this brilliant shot.
Bravo Susanna!
André
