A sign of hope, This is a young Panda relaxing in a tree at Chongqing zoo, although I prefer to see animals in the wild, this is a must to get the population of Giant Pandas build up, the Chinese government & people realize how important the Panda is, not only to there own people but to the world, if zoos help, & the animals are treated well then who am I to complain,

Lovely picture!!. The Panda is really a symbol. The Panda in the Zoo in Vienna has also Pandas and they are really treated well there and the Panda there got offspring and so a lot of people only visit the zoo to see the Panda Baby.

The panda in the tree is impressive. The photo is clear and precise. The V shape of the tree is an asset to the composition. The light brings out the colors. Have a nice day.

Ah passer mes journées à dormir comme ce bon gros panda!!

Hi Wilson, Very fine photo of this Giant Panda. I'd like to see them one day. The pose is similar to a Koala relaxing in the tree. Just a bit of his rump is cropped. A beautiful sharp shot with the 28-300 lens. Did you read that 5 keepers were killed in the recent earthquake but all the Pandas survived OK. 8 of them are to be at the Olympics soon. TFS. Murray.
Graal (88908) 2008-05-27 0:10
good shot, yes, national symbol of China. Pleasant "portrait" Well done picture.
UnTrained (0) 2008-05-27 0:28
yes, a little rest, maybe a sleep, good idea :-)
Zoo captures are often difficult, no real choice of POV, overcrowded places and what else. This one is well done with good sharpness and textures. The vertical is the right choice to imagine some height.

Ah, fantastic scene, excellent "portrait" job here, great timing to capture this beautiful posture and "expresion"! Great composition, and tight framing, excellent light managment! Congratulations!

Excellent capture of this beautiful bear. You have a really good quality pic here! I remember the time with my children standing for hours before these guys.

I adore this large alive toy, in his splendid behaviour and his so particular fur. An image of hope as you underline it. Very beautiful tenderizing and moving image. Cheer.
Have a nice day

Hello there Wilson.
Very natural looking colours and great sharpness in this shot. I like the way the subject fills up the frame - you have just the right amount of background and tree trunks in it too - and the shallow DOF is effective. This one looks very healthy, if a little indolent at the moment of capture! Well done.
danos (74020) 2008-05-27 7:50
very nice presentation of this cute Panda, that is relaxing in a tree.I like the pose and the lean head on the branch of the tree that is looks as a portrait.Excellent the light and the colors.

Seems they have suffered a lot with the earthquake too. It's being a hard moment for Chinese people.
I like his pose a lot and you captured him very well.Good light and format.
I like Pandas a lot, really hope we'll never come to lose them. That's something I have to do next time I return to China, to see them.
gunbud (34052) 2008-05-27 19:43
Extremely charming capture of this lovely national symbol of this lazy old guy. Wonderful details and sharpness to his handsome face. Great sleeping pose.
siolaw (37568) 2008-05-27 21:24
Nice portrait of this little pande relaxing, but somehow having a slightly sad expression... Good framing, selective DOF isolates the subject well from the background.
stego (22556) 2008-05-28 5:44
Very nice "peaceful hunt" of this cute animal that reminds so much a children puppet. His pose and the branches make a very pleasant graphic compo. DOF, sharpness and exposure are right on the spot.
TFS, Regards, José.

Quel merveilleux animal tout de même Wilson,
il a l'air si doux sur cette photo, pas étonnant si c'est un animal souvent utilisé comme modèle pour les peluches.
J'adore cette photo.
JCG (35129) 2008-05-29 9:19
A photograph really tenderizing, I like much this large cuddly toy !!! The animal is in a position really amusing. A nap after the lunch I think. Very beautiful photograph with a good quality of image. Your photograph makes me think of this Internet site where one to see this beautiful animal on line. Thank you Wilson.
With all my friendships and a very good evening,
claudeD (24173) 2008-05-29 12:01
very nice and lovely picture which I like very much. The Panda is really tired...
Very well done.

Hi, Wilson. They look like teddy bears when you see them like this relaxing in a tree. But I think pandas can be very violent. Your composition is nice with the branches forming a Y and framing the animal well. The pandas are an endangered species because they feed only on bamboo and they sometimes have difficulty in finding some. So I think the zoos play a very useful role in their survival.
Vasa (15970) 2008-05-29 14:29
it is rare occasion to see your photos. You sleep for a long time like your panda. But that is big pleasure to visit again your galleriy. Thanks for this lovely picture. The voice for animals!

Une image qui fait plaisir a voir plein de tendresse et d'amour pour ce beau panda perché sur l'arbre, un animal que j'aime beaucoup
Have a nice evening for you
feather (51128) 2008-05-30 6:14
It is good to see a new post from you Wilson and what a beauty it is. He looks so cute laid there in the tree. You chose the DOF well so the background does not distract from the panda. Well done
axiotea (21647) 2008-05-30 10:28
I love the posture of the panda seeming to relax with his head lying on the branch. I do also prefer to see animals in the wild but not always easy...Anyaway, a nice capture!
Gerrit (43743) 2008-05-30 10:44
Hi Wilson, although I prefer to see pictyures of animals in the wild I like this one because of the bored expression. He looks a bit depressed - i can imagine why.
Tue (25798) 2008-05-31 14:11
What a lovely photo of this panda! Really well captured here in this tree. The photo has an excellent quality too and the vertical composition was very good. Thanks for sharing!
delic (6735) 2008-06-02 0:48
We didn't hear much as to what happened to the pandas in the reservations after the Sichuan earthquake. Fine capture during a moment of rest-maybe a bit too tight, esp. on the left. They either eat or rest, no? Interesting metabolism. Best wishes,
robob (3646) 2008-06-02 6:27
pboehringer (770) 2008-06-03 10:00
a nice close-up portrait of this oversympathetic looking 'little' panda. Nice that at least the conscious for environment and protection focus on these quite charming animals. Good cropping around to focus on the panda and leaving all the disctractive elements out.
JorgeCK (2614) 2008-06-03 11:06
Nice note accompanied by a wonderful adored picture. Excellent composition and wonderful colors. Since the Pandas are consider to be an endangered species I don't mind to see them in the zoo, that will ensure the survival rate.
Thank you for sharing
take care , joRge
plimrn (21344) 2008-06-07 19:47
I love the way you captured this adorable fellow with his eyes open, it saeems like they mostly have their eyes shut in the daytime. I agree with you about zoos.
Alco (4631) 2008-06-07 21:39
Nice and funny shot of that panda.Unhappily, many other animals in the world are not treated as well as this one is.Your picture leads us to think about the protection of animals.
Tobias__Ortmann (2638) 2008-06-25 8:16
very good action shot
I really like the scene with this beatifull panda.
Maybe it misses a bit sharpness but nevertheless you got a great capture
ocskaymarci (2606) 2008-07-05 2:57
Nice photo of this resting beauty. Although you took this photo in a zoo, it's not noticable. I like the warm colours surrounding this magnificent animal and the vertical format also works very well!
Have a nice weekend! Best wishes,
scroller (3407) 2008-07-06 7:46
This guy really knows how to relax. I wonder if he would take it so easy if he knew how close his species is to be extiguished...

It is a good thing, to be able to sleep in any position!
Well, maybe he isn't sleeping as I can see the eyes are open but it is a fun pose anyway...
A well composed presentation with fine details in the fur coat!

HI WIlson, very nice this image
i like the panda's position
fulvio52 (8314) 2009-03-22 15:09
How incredibly sweet... One of the most beautiful creatures on Earth! In 2006 I remember seeing them at San Diego Zoo, as a matter of fact they just had an offspring, which is BIG DEAL as Giant Pandas don't breed that easy in captivity. So, visitors were required to speak as softly as possible (also no flash allowed) in orde not to scare the cub... Wonderful shot, buddy. Love it! Have a good evening, see ya soon.
UlfE (13730) 2009-09-20 5:42
Since you have not posted any new photos I had have a look at your old picture of yours. It is an excellent animal picture which is not always easy to take even if your are in a zoo. I love the way the panda is resting in the tree and it even seems to smile. TFS and have a nice Sunday!
