A Tibetan woman praying in front of the Potthala Palaca - Dalai Lama's former residence. Now, you can punished for carrying pictures of Dalai Lama, or even mentioning his name.
In a short time, the Olympic torch is going through Lhasa. I just hope that this event is not going to provoke the loss of more lives in Tibet. While neither Olympics, nor TE constitute political forums per se, I do believe that any chance to involve in dialogue with Chinese should be taken. The Olympics is such as chance, and it should also be used by our governments to pressure China to improve the conditions for their people - including Tibetans and others, who are seen as "minorities" in China, but as independent people by themselves. |

Lovely photo. The B&W adds a sense of times passed to this photo and also a sense of urgency. Before I even read your second paragraph I thought that this would make a beautiful protest photo, because it is so peaceful. She looks so alone in the photo that one wants to help help her or be with her in some way. Well done and thank you for sharing.
