After the competition, as the horseriders were going back to the village, everything is more quiet. The rider has himself a cigarette, the small horse follow the big one...
---
On the road to Lhatse, we saw a small spectacle of tents and people on a straight piece off land off the road. We went there and it turned out to be a local horseriding competition. A gathering of people were sitting in small tents, drinking fermented horsemilk, cheering on their favorite horserider. The horseriders, who were in their colourful, festive outfit were riding straight and picking up the white sticks on the way. Quite impressive!
Must be a local tradition, but I haven't been reading much about it. Anyways, the atmosphere was great, and it was a nice place to spend a few hours.
Just resizing and sharpening on this one |
