Photographer’s Note
Among the plethora of prayer wheels that entangle the Johkang monastery in the center of the old city... When gambling with your soul, why not just double down?
No excessive post-processing, the 5D was set on servo-focus - 'sports mode'. worked well.

You are really producing sumptuous stuff these days, C - it's a pleasure discovering each new one. Love the bokeh sandwich aound the praying wheels, with super sharpness on the lady and child. Your mastery of DOF is really something...

The same thought entered my mind as Francis, but I must say I am not as assiduously going thru contribtuions as I once did, and you have always held your photography at a lofty standard, Caleb. Your choices of destinations as well.
I would love to see your peregrinations and the pictures highlighting them be edited in book format.

Hi Caleb - puzzling why this is not getting more attention than it is in the number of views, as this is just an incredible shot, with such a delicate balance of focus being held together. As much as the prayer wheels and the face of the woman are key elements in this scene, its the hand of the boy and his mother that give off a stronger sense of humanity here that pulls me in.

Here all is perfect... the position of this woman and her child, the movement of prayer wheels...

Another great shots. It could easily fit in National Geographic or similar magazines. The child playing with the prayer wheels is a lovely scene.

There's real poetry here. The lived in face expressing joy and resignation at the same time, the sense of place, the density of the textures.

Hi again...
High-caliber stuff...
Excellent portrait of a woman, while the baby creates a transition between the mother and the prayer wheels. Remarkable job with the shallow depth-of-field.
Impressive!
