This is another of my Jing Wan Lu shots. The whole place is just full of contrasts. Just 100 metres up the road from here is a brand new shopping complex, with a huge department store, restaurants and boutiques. Take away the Chinese signage and you might think that you were in a big city center anywhere in Europe or the US, but you're not, you are in Changsha, China.
But here life continues as it always has, the farmers harvest there crops, bring them in to town to sell them. just as three women are doing here.
Interestingly most of the locals prefer to buy their produce from people like these, avoiding the the large supermarket nearby with all its plastic wrapped products. I suppose it's because things are fresher here, those chillies for example were were probally still in the vine 3 or 4 hours ago.

An excellent capture of daily life. I , too, would rather buy from these ladies than the big marketplaces. :) I like how the one lady is looking directly at you, and the others expressions are nice as well. These people work so very hard. Very nice picture. TFS
