a girl taking care of a parking lot in Urumqi - a big city far far in the west of China, one of the best cities for street photography I have been to

Maciek, I have to admit that I don't understand. Your note says this is one of the best cities you have visited for street photography, yet you upload this one? A centered photo of a girl looking dead at the camera. I have to say that this is IMO way below your skill level.

Hi Maciej, subtle... I like how you have two slabs of grey going, top and bottom, ramng or sandwiching the girl. Her foot on the chain is nice touch too. Looking forward to more of your China pics...

There is an extraordinary stillness about this composition, Maciej, it's almost like she were made of wax. The whole thing has a stage set feel to it, so formal is the composition. Those soft neutral tones are comforting too. The woman doesn't look Asian at all. This has made me look up Urumqi on the internet, but with few interesting results. regards kevin

Hi Maciej, I would have to agree with Darren on this one. This really doesn't fit into your gallery which is full of excellent compositions - packed with flair and originality. Best regards, Roberto

I am going to have to second with Darren on this one here. It is a picture from the street, but yet it's not a street photo per say. I think we would need a more candid aproach here. Otherwise, I like the lighting, and the pretty girl ;)

Well, I'd say you've been too far to take that kind of photos.
Makes me think about the humptieth photo student project on suburbia. Could have been taken anywhere between New Jersey and Dusseldörf... I'm sure you could get a good one in Cardiff as well.
Not that exotism is a requirement but I urge you to keep out from the boring photo school genre. At least when Parr selects a collection of boring postcards it's second degree.
