For Jurcio - Polonaise... one of the best photographer I've ever had honour to know.
He inspires, he kicks ass, he rocks, he makes us think...
Damn Jurcio, you're fuc...kin good! Wish I reach your level someday....
My photography - still shit. Still not concious enough... still too random. But I'll be the bloody second James Nachtwey one day... Just don't give up on me, dude...
Going to bed... the room is dancing :)

If this is the result you get when drunk..I suggest you stay drunk!!
Gosh its awesome..and trust me the framing adds to it. Its by far one of the most powerful portraits I have seen in a long time.
Thanks for Sharing..incidently I knew I was crap..you've taken me to another level!!

I agree with Preetie, very powerful portrait and the framing does it more than justice. I like the uneven composition and slanted POV. great job, tfs, Betty

Pawel, so you have been touched by the words of master Polonaise... I know what you mean, I love his direct approach to photography and raw approach to the notes... always food for thoughts... yes, this portrait shows the influence of his work where you as photographer are not trying to capture the man but the soul. Great job, stay drunk!
Clairedelune (4923) 2007-08-21 11:47
Yes Pawel... go to bed! And hopefully, the room will still be there tomorrow morning. But, you might feel the roof being kind of low on your head! :)))
Aaaaaaaaah, to be young again! I just can't drink like that! My head is unable to deal with booze!
Anyway, that is for your note. (I marked this note as "useful" just because it gave me a good laugh!)
Lets talk about the photography now! Gosh, I wish to have such a photo in my own portfolio! But damn! I can't steal it anymore, with the "PM" watermark all over it! :))) Seriously Pawel, I am impressed by this photo! And I have a hard time to find the right words to express my thoughts (even if I did not drink one bit!). His eyes... his open mouth that have just had a puff of his pipe, the hand with the two fingers, the wrinkles... the perfect blurred background... Ok, lets forget the words that are not coming to my mind right now and let me just enjoy this photography. Gosh! It is perfect!
Damn Jurcio! :)))

PHOTOGRAPHY FIRST !!!
And then... Then show me brother, what you've got there, in your picture ?
And you did it splendidly (not the first time, I may add !!).
It's almost next to impossible to be an information source about ANYTHING in today's world ruled by TV with its thousands of journalist equipped with the money, people and equipment and time...
What are our chances that we'll show something unusual, unknown ...?
Strange, hard to reach places, different cultures and 'civilizations' ...???
But... We can always be THE PHOTOGRAPHERS...
The GOOD photographers...
No money, no herds od people working for us, but our hearts... And minds... And willingness to be that special guy...
And YES ! Miracles happen...
A simple rock, or a road, someone's hand or face - can be a gutsy photograph...
You may say..
A Chinese guy !!
Big deal !!!
What's so special about Chinese guy ?
There is already over a billion of them...(half of them clicking pictures for TE (:-)))
Enough is enough..
Oh, yeah ..?
Just have a look at this Chinese dude...Pawel' Chinese dude and you will know what I'm talking about !!!
Some Chinese dude !!!!

Such a brilliant picture. I agree with Preetie. The framing really pops it out. Stunning clarity...one can see every wrinkle and little hair. The B&W is so right for this shot.
By the way, your work is excellent. I wouldn't mind getting one or two shots as good as yours.
p.s. .. I hope your hang-over was not too bad!!!

C'est un super portrait..
Quel regard.. Quel vie se lit dans ces yeux..
Le noir et blanc est fantastique..
noborders (1010) 2008-07-01 14:31
Great dedication but I don't agree that your photos are "still shit", specially this one is absolutely fantastic, such skills in framing a perfect expression and having found the best model in his best attitude... You must be a patient man or else, you have the perfect eye !
Splendid, even more if you were drunk (good excuse for the framing !)
Full of admiration,
