I have already mentioned how small the people expecailly the women seemed to be in Chongqing This is captured in one of the temples and I had to think of Alice in Wonderland.

A classic and a "classy" shot Elaine reminiscent of fine recent Chinese films such as "Red lantern..." etc. LOvely to have the old lady like that in the pocket...perfect.

Hi Elaine: GREAT composition - clever. And a volunteer to contribute a sense of scale. I hope you get some attention for this fine one.

Great scene you have set here. I really like how you used the keyhole to frame the image. The pillars adds some nice lines and the woman is perfectly placed. Good work.

very beautiful photo, vivid colors and balanced picture. Focus on subject may be little better.

Hi Elaine, The perfect POV & a great title, the red is strong & there is wonderful composition, I love the way the lady is looking at you as if so relaxed, kind regards Wilson.

:-) Indeed Alice, Elaine, through the red rabbit hole... love the abundance of reds and the fine way of shooting her among these columns through the opening... fantastic work, dear friend!

Yes, after one of those pills no doubt. Almost impossible seeming long DoF here at f/5, I guess you further away from that keyhole shaped opening than it seems, good optical illusion.

A reallyt nicely framed shot Elaine - I have never been in a temple in the city - I must look out for one next time - I did go to the Guildhall a couple of times though - an amazing building. You've used the architecture here to maximum effect - like a forest.

The composition and color matching are very strong here. This is obvioulsy a photographer playground, you just have to help yourself with vertical structure and circular patterns.
Though I feel there's an issue with sharpness here, I can't point why the old lady is not really sharp while she has to.
Are you sure you switched the VR feature on?

I like this one Elaine for the strong sober framing structure of the 'keyhole' seeing the woman behind with all those red pillars, indeed, pure well structured shots have a big advantage to sometimes more complicated easy cluthered feel compos, sure only the woman could use a tiny local sharpening as the rest around is all sharp.

Yes, as Francis said, this image evokes images of many Chinese films, especially with the red pillars. An excellent composition with strong play between the circular 'keyhole' & the verticals of the pillars. I've taken the liberty to do a small WS in Picassa. I hope you wouldn't mind my adventure.

excellent framing around this old woman.
Surely that she passed a lot of time of her life in this temple.
Nice vertical columns and red color.

Thank God you didn't a vertical compo on this one. Otherwise all these pilars would have eaten us out. You really have a clever eye. The combination of reds is very good here and the way you framed the main subject is very effective. It's a pity she isn't very sharp but as a whole the picture is very beautiful. Kind of a forbidden city feel.
