Photographer’s Note
We took a stop while heading to the Karakul Lake in western Xinjiang. A group of locals living in a nearby valley approached us and tried to sell us some jewelry and other local products... This girl was one of them. I was amazed by the harsh look in her eyes that fit perfectly into surrounding breath-taking scenery.
This photo was inspired by one of Jim Nachtwey's photos from Chechnya.

Pawel
First, that's a very good shot. Dramatic, dark and equipped with an extraordinary perspective and deep background. Great job. Cheers!
Second, I see it is inspired by James Nachtwey's shot from Chechnya. Maybe unconsciously. Maybe not. Take a look and let me know what you think, ok?

Pawel: I love your photograph here. Isolating the eyes here against a well placed landscape works great. I would enjoy more post from you from this region. best, c

just a fraction of the face more and we would see enough of the model...i simply miss more of the face, slightly more...other than that it is a tremendous work...full of tension, some dose of dramatism...
really good,

Piekne jest to zdjecie.
Jak z filmu, i to nie byle jakiego.
Grozne spojrzenie tej kobiety, w takiej kompozycji, robi niesamowite wrazenie.
Doskonale opracowanie graficzne.
Pozdrawiam. Grazyna.

great photo Pawel, well composed and the expression of the girl is special. but it is too dark for my taste and lacks contrast, see my quick workshop

Great shot, Pawel, a brilliant combination of two of the things to be found on this earth that can convey a greater sense of depth: a huge valley and pair of human eyes.

Great crop but unfortunately dejà vu for us photo geeks who read about anything about photography. It took less than a quarter of a sec to name Nachtwey... in a square format, I would have said Max Pam (which is a better reference for me)... like Maciek advised some brightness needed and I would add some warmth too (slight sepia tone, in fact warm paper alike)
