a couple takin a self-portrait while another girl's staring at them...imagine the other girl's the girlfriend of that man!

I was recommended by fellow TE member Mingfang to visit this place (王府井)and it's definitely worth it. It's one of the new middle to high class shopping area in Beijing. Apart from the large shopping malls was this food street serving traditional Chinese noodles and snacks.

Wangfu = aristocratic residence (refers to the old residents of princes nearby) and Jing = well (a sweet water well was discovered there)

Interesting street scene ich in detail, Cheuk. Maybe a little too oich (know what I mean). This is an instance where an slr with its narrower DOF potential comes in handy... But all in all this is a fascinating glimpse of Beijing life.
Cool,
Francis

Hey Cheuk,

With all the new malls and ultra chic 'lifestyle' in-places nowadays, it's nice to see traditional tea-cafes or authentic chinese noodle shops, stalls or old alfresco cafes such as this. I enjoy lounging with the locals, feel the atmosphere and relive the old days. Excellent choice of using B&W, capturing details of the orient, the mood and culture as well.

Well presented my friend!

I dont know if its too rich..I really like all that detail. It is perhaps a bit dark though, but Im not sure if thats a big problem. Certainly the moment you captured of the couple is very good, I would like to see more on the bottom and less on the top, just to get the couple more solidly in the frame.

Oh man :) This is a really got photo. You've really managed to capture the bustling atmosphere of Wang Fu Jing. While I was living in Beijing I used to go there from time to time. However, I think you should visit Panjiayuan Antique Market as well. It starts at five in the morning every Saturday and Sunday.

Good work mate!

Best regards

Pawel

It's a ncie record of an interesting side of the life of the emerging Chinese middle class. B&W works well here and there is a lot of intesting context. It is a very busy composition, difficult to get a grip on. Rgerads kevin

Hi Cheuk, nice to see current Beijing street scenery like this. (I only know old Beijing...when the 改革开放 刚刚开始的时候) Maybe you needed to make the couple stand out more in the photo, but still I like this view very much. I am still browsing your China series and I will leave some more comments later.
