I've posted a number of photos about how scenic China is. There's a downside to modern China though, and that's what this image is all about.
SMOG proliferates in nearly every part of Shanghai (I heard it's worse in Beijing), especially at this time of the year, or when winter is almost over. China continues to heavily rely on coal-powered energy plants, which means a lot of pollution thrown up in the air everyday. This dirty air is more difficult to get rid off during the cold season.
In this area of Wai Gao Qiuao, Shanghai, you can see how thick the smog is, the building which is just 50 meters from where I was can hardly be seen. I would caution anyone planning to trek to Shanghai at this time of the year to limit your outdoor activities and observe the usual precautions when traveling to heavily polluted cities, to avoid the usual respiratory ailgments that go with it. |

There is a great, heavy, wet, foggy atmosphere in this picture, and some nice lines and suttle colors.
