In praise of the Great Wall

Tens of thousands visitors flock at Badaling to see the Great Wall. It is the nearest and the most tourist "infected" place to Beijing, the part of the Great Wall at Badaling always seem to collapse with tourists. As one of the amazing wonders of the world, this antique, extreme architectural project attracts tourists from outside and inside China alike.

An old lady visiting was singing in praise of this wall. Her wrinkled face and ethnic clothes were special for a shot... i could not resist clicking!

I also post the color version in Workshop, after critiques from Sayan and Livia. Which one do you like?

Ciao Arnab!!
what an interesting face! My first imoression was that the face had been cut and past over the neck! Strange!
Pity that it is not coloured, I am asking why you used BW.

I hope to go and visit Bejing after Olimpyc games

Ciao!

Livia

PS:
today I am starting reading last Vikram Seth Book, "Two lives"

Arnab da,
Indeed her ethnic clothes and the wrinkled face were special. Not sure, but may be her clothes will be better if it had been a coloured one!
Regards,
Sayan
PS: I do prefer the monochrome. The effect which Livia is talking of is more prominent in the coloured version apart from the exposure problem near her neck.

Hi Arnab,

Coincidence we had posted on the same day some people singing traditional songs in turistic places! Nice DOF and framing you had. I guess I preffer the color version. I found the B&W a little to bright.

Regards,

Flavia

Hi Arnab,

lovely capture of her face. The skin tonality and the wrinkles and lines on it are really pleasant. A bit of harshness on her cheeks but thats a minor point of contention. You chose a rather wide apreature, I would think that maybe more depth of field could work too, the background is interesting.

U have shown the emotion of the lady Excellenty.A little shift at either left side or right side to give a look of the Greatwall at the background must give it a great look.
Anyway it is a very good shot.
Partha
