Photographer’s Note
The old man at Forbideen city
Ni Hao! this is my first post from Beijing.
The forbidden city at the heart of Beijing is just an exclusive example of Chinese architecture and planning. It is crowded even on weekdays, and easy to imagine what the crowd grows to in weekends.
As foreign tourist flock to see the exquisite Chinese designs here, tour operators bring lots of Chinese tourists from different part of this huge country. Most are simple living people, and could make a trip to beijing once or twice in their lifetime.
I came across such a group of old people taking rest while seated inside one of the courtyards of the huge area of the Forbidden city.
Greetings from Beijing.

Nice portrait! I like that he is not looking at the camera, but instead is looking off somewhere else, leaving us to imagine what he is seeing. I'm not sure about the bright doorway behind, it's a little distracting, but on the other hand the people there add a nice dynamic. Great work!

Novel framing, and beautifully executed portrait of this interesting looking man. I bet he some stories to tell.

Hi Arnab,
Excellent portrait from nice low angle giving a very good profile of the old man's face. I like the empty space and the doorway you have left behind him, nice touch.
Best Wishes

Good to see you at Forbidden city.It presents possiblity of great shots.Dont miss Chairman Mao at entrance.
Could you not cover bright doorway by moving a bit to use hat of man.Notwithstanding a good shot

Hello Arnab,
Well managed shot. With my experience the highlighted background is very difficult to manage with Compact cameras. However the white shirt is bit blown out. A slight color burn may help...I am not sure. However I love the framing and his look.

Arnab, perfect sharpness and compo. The off angle gaze of your subject works well here. TFS. Enjoy the ride, c

Great one Arnab da. Nice to see you posting from Beijing. I had some really wonderful memories there just a few days back and I was refreshing those seeing your pic. Wonderful depthe and nice to keep the door behind. But I think this also needed some space on the left.
Best regards

Nihao Arnab,
Impressive portrait. His stare and the textures of his skin are captured very well. Really good sharpness and great details. The compo is also excellent with the two silhouettes in the depth. Very good stuff, TFS. Enjoy ur stay in Beijing.
Cheers
