Photographer’s Note
Another shot from the Sunday market in Menghun, Xishuangbanna; the minority area on the borders with Laos and Myanmar. Han Chinese are the real minority in this area. The meat, like most products, is fresh that day, and will be weighed in the hand held scale sitting on the butcher's table.
Typical of SE ASia is the embroidered baby carrier; they are very much attachment parents, hold and carry children alot, and have strong family bonds.

Great shot. I'd try to take this a step to the right, so the stick (or support pole to the tarpaulin) isn't in the woman's eye, & her white pullover acts more as a backdrop to the hilltribe lady in the foreground. Good composition & very colourful. Well done.

Hi Ian, Nice again, I would prefer a shallower DOF, but the scene is nice to look at, and very colorful. Makes me wanna go there.....
The babycarrier looks a bit like those colorful Russian scarves.

Nice image Ian. I haven't been to Xishuangbanna, even though I was about to go while in Kunming.. Looking at you pictures I would like to go back in time. May be a day, ......
If only India didn 't exist:!!

Very good documentary shot. Very chaotic scene but engaging. I would crop the line on top as itdistracts the focus to the foreground focal point.

A good, very colourful shot. You took this at a nice time, with the woman`s arm stretching out to take the meat. That pole is a bit distracting but not really too much.

very colorful; maybe some close shots or tight crops would make it less busy overall. I get a bit lost in the picture here.. very nice though;-))

I liked this picture..colors, faces and meat are from a daily life I don't know but I feel close..I have seen meat on the market here, Syria, Azerbaijan..they usually cut one big animal and if you are late, you spend that week without meat...
I tried a tighter version to see if I can favor her more..I hope you like it..

I love these pictures! I never want to go where it looks like modern LA. where I lived! I want to go places like this! (but like Clodreno, I can't seem to get out of India. I keep going back to Nepal and India)
