Photographer’s Note
Dining in an open air restaurant one evening in Panzhihua we saw those kids going from table to table asking the people if they wanted them to sing a song for them. As they came towards us, they did ask with real insistance until it came to the point of 'I leave not leave you alone until you pay me for singing'. When I took my camera out, these kids were really excited to see themselves on the screen. The little boy with his toy guitar was really the least shy of them all. The girl (look at her hair) needed persuasion to get in front of the camera.
The only thing that bothers me still, is that I still don't know for sure if they were trying to make pocket money or if they were working for some adult...

Dear Laurent, I wonder what was up with the last one, I bet you had a gun out "Hands up!" I'll shot you (of course camera slang spoken) The picture is a good documentary shot, especiall together with the question you raise in your note. You just don't know and so there will be mixed feelings left. Hopefully they played well... Yours, Jan
