Photographer’s Note
Hi Everyone, sorry I've not been posting much recently but life has been a bit hectic in the last couple of months. I've started a new job working with a tour company specialising in Asia and in particular China. It's long hours but it's great fun too.
Anyway today I've decided to post a photo from one of my favourite places in China. This is Jiuzhaigou, which translates as Nine Villages Valley. It's named after the small Tibetan villages that are found here (even though this area is outside Tibet itself).
The area is known for its spectacular natural beauty of lakes, mountains and waterfalls. This shot is of the magnificent Pearl Shoal Falls. I posted a shot some time ago taken from a different angle but I think they're worth seeing again!

Ciao! The waterfall is spectacular and the place is perfect. Still I try to understand where does the water come from to make such a large waterfall in the bottom of the valley. A lake? A large portion of the river. Spectacular rocky step...
The composition is well done, because you included the trees in the front, that "courtains" of trees in the middle plan, that high mountain in the back.
and the image looks very neat too.

Bonjour Jonathan
content de te revoir sur TE surtout avec une photo de ce calibre ! J'aime beaucoup cette immensité et ces chutes vertigineuses. La lumière est vraiment très belle et donne un caractère apaisant à ce paysage magnifique. Bravo

It's certainly been worth the wait if this is what you post after a break. Superb framing and the very fast shutter speed works perfectly for me in freezing most of the water movement.

What a spectacular natural view ! Technically, there's nothing to say, it's just perfect, we can almost feel the movements of the water falling down ! Very well done !

Hi Jonathan,
Good to see some new ones from you. Also fun to see a photo taken right where I have stood in the past. I hope jiuzhaiguo is as relatively untouched as it was last time I was there (about 7 years ago)...it is a great place and you have captured a fine image from it.
Cheers

Hi Jonathan,
I wish you success with your new job. This picture shows you interest and knowledge of China, so I imagine you are on the right post. The exposure time is always a difficult choice for taking pictures of waterfalls. You did the right choice here.

Hi Jonathan,
Always equally impressive your photos of the Chinese Rockies, a superb virgin landscape and even without person to give a scale we can easily imagine these waterfalls are quite big. very good exposure.
Have a nice week end,

Hi Jonathan,
Nice to see you back on TE especially with such a high quality shot. This is not the usual scenery that comes to mind when one thinks of China. The shutter speed was perfect to freeze the ovement of the water and your compo is wonderful. These waterfall seem huge!
Have a nice Sunday.

Hi Jonathan. A very impressive photo of a spectacular scene. The water is captured really well, with wonderful lighting. I'm glad you included that thin leaning tree on the left - it's a good balancer. Must try to go to China some day. I've seen so many spectacular scenes from that country.

Hi Jonathan - this is is even more beautiful than the previous version, here the falls appear larger and more powerful, the water seemingly gushing out of nowhere and disappearing into the vegetation below, the snowy peak completes the scene, this looks like a must see destination.

Hi Jonathan. If this was 1st April, I would guess you were fooling us all with a photograph of one of those oil paintings that you see in the markets in China, but if this is for 'real' then I would have to say that it is one of the best landscape photographs that I have seen on TE for a while. The scenery is this part of China is quite breathtaking, and you have captured it superbly. Technically excellent in all respects and perfectly composed (that's why I wondered if it was a painting!) Cheers . . . David

Hi Jonathan,
I missed this earlier shot in your gallery...What a stunning view. I especially like the appearance of the foaming water here; it appears your shutter speeed was right on. The persepctive is intriguing, with all the foliage, because there is such a feeling of power and majesty in the falls but not the usual scene of a large river below. The shadow effects here are very enhancing. An alluring shot, Jonathan. Well captured.

Hello Jonathan,
I am used to look at Fall pictures, but th,s one is ( For me ) evenb more striking that / say - Iguazu or Victoria - because it is more at the human level, and I can appreciate details much better. Take for instance the tree at the left which gives depth or the different steps of earth where the water falls. Moreover this is no easy take, because of the location which is so difficult to access, certainly not the falls next corner.
Best wishes - Izzet

Hi Jonathan!
Nice POV!
The colors are nice. The exposure time is perfect. If I had one thing to say... The tree on the left side disturb me juste a little! It attracks my attention maybe a bit too much. Just adding a bit of blur there would solve it.
Great picture anyway!

Magnificent exposure you've got there :)
The falls themselves are spectacular, but the composition is also somptuous, with dark foreground and far snowy mountains that add to the scene instead of distracting the eye.
