This was taken this morning @ 6:34 a.m.
The lighting was pretty poor (dull, overcast) for the previous 30 minutes and then suddenly the thick clouds started to break up into large fragments, allowing light to shine through and lit up certain parts of this concrete jungle.
This picture also features the four most famous and tallest skyscrapers in Hong Kong. The Hopewell centre (left, circular concrete building) was the tallest structure in Asia few decades ago. Then came the Bank of China tower of the 1980s. (triangular, sword-like structure). But in the early 90s, another taller building was erected, the Central Plaza in Wan Chai (far right). Now, the tallest building is the I.F.C. 1, which is positioned left to the Central Plaza building.
Any comments more than welcome :)

Hi Tsang, good view of the fabolous skyline of HK.

Good composition into thirds, with marvellous color & sharpness. An impressive HK skyline!
ben4321 (9875) 2006-07-04 7:59
This is one of the best shots of the HK skyline that I've seen on TE. Great colours and sharpness, and I like the fact that you've excluded the water; it makes it a bit different.
vincent24 (9060) 2006-07-04 8:19
Yes the lightening is interesting on the skyline, the clouds are so low they seems to touch the tallest"skycrapers"...realy a good POV,

It looks like you woke up really early.
But it was worth it :)
Hong Kong looks like a beautiful modern city and if it wasn't for the hill on the left I would have had the impression that it risses from the clowds.
Manamo (3708) 2006-07-04 8:51
Ok, I get it, it is a miniature model of Hong Kong! It is really stunning. It is a chance you included the hill on the left, if not, I would not believe it! Very nice light and perfect aperture et 9.0:it is so sharp!
Amazing! See you,

Early morning light really is the best but most of us don't get up early enough to see it. The light on the buildings is stunning and the sky makes an excellent cover.
Ina (2687) 2006-07-04 12:31
Superb colors and light... Exelent clearnes too... TFS... Ina...
jhm (148742) 2006-07-04 13:26
I agree with previous writer Kath, early morning light really is the best but most of us don't get up early enough to see it. This is a forest of buildings against the imminent sky, very well seen!

Bonsoir Cheuk Hon,
c'est une photo d'une grande qualité que tu nous présentes. La lumière qui vient frapper les batiments est vraiment magnifique et fait ressortir de nombreux détails. Le ciel amène également sa part d'équilibre et de relief. Bravo, j'aime beaucoup

Good saturation of colors and beautiful light!
oochappan (16355) 2006-07-04 15:56
beautiful and sharp panoramique view over the buildings with marvellous clarity in various coloring and contrast towards an impressive cloudy sky, I like the sun and shadow play on these buildings.
lasscor (7640) 2006-07-04 16:11
Nice pov, great colors, light, sharpness and details.
I like much the clouds in the sky which give a great atmosphere.
Prisley (1485) 2006-07-04 16:56
Nice lines of buildings enhanced by the cloud line. Great constrast between the blue sky, the colorful skyscrappers and either white or grey clouds. This is wat I like most. I also like the sharpness of the pic' and the framing. Congrats!

Hi Cheuk Hin Tsang,
I can see that this glorius cityscape is due to your patience in waiting for the right light to show the splendid sky. Your care in using the tripod paid off with perfect sharpness. Regards, Pat

Nice skyline with beautiful lights. The clouds above looks threatening though ;) TFS!

Hi Cheuk Hin,
I see you're back home on holiday !
It looks great in the morning and with some morning sunlight, for people knowing the skyline view from TST the disposition of buildings looks a bit strange here, but knowing from where you have shot this one it is clear to me. Nice view.
Have a nice day,

This is one of your best shots. It has all the ingredients: colour, sharpness, composition and exposure. The scene is somewhat surreal in it's colour and look. A very good shot, and nice to see you getting up early for the art.
capthaddock (28790) 2006-07-05 10:15
Actually I think the light here is splendid, the early timingf resulted in excellent deep saturated colours, I really like the shadowplay the clouds make on the buildings

Excellent capture Cheuk Hin. I also notice the recent change of the wheather and the clouds, just cannot find a good place to shoot it.
6:34am, so early!!!. Good POV and brightness.
In fact where is the actual position you were standing?
MIG13 (0) 2006-07-05 22:45
Hi, Cheuk! What a stunning skyline! Nice perspective, colours and contrasts! Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Rio! Miguel.
orme (7215) 2006-07-06 1:42
Fantastic shot, Cheuk Hin. The sky and the detail of the buildings are both excellent. What I especially like about this shot, is how you have managed to 'rearrange' the normal order of the buildings - with Central Plaza actually appearing to be taller than 2IFC. Very clever and very original. Well seen.
designsoul (21492) 2006-07-06 10:01
Fantastic cityscape... the clarity and colours are amazing. The sky with those foreboding clouds add an extra weight to it. Great work and very informative note. It was well worth waking up for this shot so early!!!
PS Green to come

Such an amazing panorama!
Very clear and great is the dramatic sky over city!
kajspice (4542) 2006-07-07 20:07
This looks like toytown...its all so perfect! The lightng is beautiful...a great time to go and take pictures...I was tempted to go out shooting today after a long spell of rain...the clouds were amazing, but then I figured I would be out for hours and decided it was a bad idea! Anyhow, you seem to be able to spot good opportunities like this as there are many of your pictures I seem to remember with nice skies...
Henryk_Bilor (20799) 2006-07-08 14:34
Maybe the light was poor, but the effect at your image is great. I like the colour building, in different shapes, partially lighted. Very nice cloudy sky too. Good composition.
mphotographies (1976) 2006-07-10 23:25
Hong Kong's weather nowadays is gloomy and your capture & timing made it picture perfect of how Hong Kong famous skyscrapers really look like during this "rainy" season. GOOD WORK!
Brendon (289) 2006-07-12 0:22
A fine example as to why we should all get up a little sooner in terms of capturing the best light. I have to admit that your "Good Morning HK and her 4 Titans" is equally impressive vs. all the night ones that I have witnessed here in TE. Great view with wonderful lighted subjects.
blue-velvet30 (6524) 2006-07-12 5:03
Great POV, wonderful colors and light. Fantastic composition. Brawo!
thanks for sharing
Burberry1 (6041) 2006-07-13 5:12
Excellent panorama of this inspiring town:))))))
Everything seems to be perfect here!!
crettaz (2767) 2006-07-14 7:58
This picture is absolutely amazing !!!
The colors are strange, like in a painting, and the panorama is superb, with this clouds uper the buildings !
I am in Hong-Kong for the first time in 2 weeks, and it's the firs time i took a plane... I have fear ;-P
have you an address of a good discotheque has Hong-Kong?
everlasting (14850) 2006-07-23 0:41
Very nice morning view of this skyline.
The contrast of the skyscrapers against the grey sky works well. Good POV.
naturalverities (96) 2006-09-03 4:36
Hong Kong is my favorite city! What I like about this image is the textural contrast of the crystal-sharp buildings below the billowy-soft sky, and the way the tallest buildings almost appear to support the clouds. The white, low-angle light gives the feeling of an awakening day. I think I smell coffee. Great job!
Standa (1877) 2007-02-23 7:23
wow,how unique photo! Words are needless - colours, sky, clouds, sharpness - all is perfect!
BennyV (15897) 2007-11-07 23:58
dramatic and surreal
ronrada (87) 2008-08-02 19:27
the hong kong is skyline is an "overused" subject for photography and it's starting to get usual, or boring, but the way you took this shot makes it more interesting. it's dramatic. it seems that it's telling a lot of story. it's great. (actually, i have a night shot of cloudy hk harbor too.)
Noel_Byrne (29183) 2012-07-07 9:07
This is one of the most beautiful skylines I've seen, and what better place to showcase better than Hong Kong. The colour is particularly fine, and the Central Plaza building is stunning. I would happily frame this in my house and look at it for hours. Thanks for sharing!!
Best wishes from Ireland.
npecanhuk (73492) 2012-07-07 9:18
World famous skyline... always a pleasure to see it specially in an attractive and good quality photograph!
TFS - congratulations!
