Photographer’s Note

This photo shows a cross-sectional / side view of Hong Kong Island. It was taken from the back of the Lantau Island ferry.

On the left side of the photo you can see the skyscrapers that make up the famous skyline view (photo by Jean Yves Roure) on the north side of the island.

Then you have "The Peak", looking down the the urban jungle of the financial and shopping areas.

Then you come down to the south side of the island with the built up area of Aberdeen, just behind the container ship.

With this photo, I wanted to show Hong Kong Island as just that - an island.

In fact much of the island is actually untouched / green - with all the urban construction at the foot of the mountains - which is why there is always reclamation work going on.

Tech:- Rotated 0.4 to the right. Resized. Sharpened. Brightness +3. Contrast +6. Added border.
