Shanghai, Urban Planning Exhibition Hall
Right at the center of theShanghai sci-fi city stands the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. A rather unattractive and dry name for a rather fascinating museum of the future! Located on People's Square, the heart of this striking modern building showcases one of the largest urban development plans ever imagined by men. An awsome huge scale model shows how the city will really look like around 2020.
Tourists are not the only ones visiting the museum. Bewildered Shanghai citizens come here to view what their daily horizon will soon be, after the bulldozers have destroyed their homes within the old districts of the ancient Pearl of the Orient.
Beside the scale model exhibition there's a small round room showing a mind-boggling bird's eye journey over the future grandiose city. This spectacular animation is projected on a 360° screen.
The old lady in the middle of my picture could literally not believe her eyes. She stayed in the room for as long as 3 rounds of the show, and got out of the room, dizzy.
With a very poor lighting and the absence of tripod, my image is a little blurred and grainy. But, isn't it exactly how we can vision the future? |

ca me plait bien cette image, c'est différent..;-) ils ont l'air fasciné par la droite de l'image; il y avait quoi??
I think the blur and the grain is not really an issue here. Many of your images have a slightly surreal and futuristic quality about them - this one included. I must say, the woman looks quite comfortable...it is nice that you caught her before she left!

I love this exhibition and I like the attitude that you've caught the woman in--awed, hopeful, maybe a bit wary as well. The blur doesn't bother me too much but wondering why you didn't either blur it more or use a higher ISO.
AnneMarie, a great shot. Rafal should see it too! As you say, here the grain is perfectly justified and doesn't take away from the power of the shot. Your composition, the interesting aquatic colours add a sense of the surreal to it all. Perfect and judicious framing, too. Bravo!

Bonjour Anne-Marie,
je me souviens parfaitement avoir commenté une de tes photos (Inside the World Huge Cage - II).

Anne Marie,
A very interesting shot. I love the way you framed this. The colours are also very surreal. Very original.
Cheers
