My first trip to China was in 2004, fifteen years after the infamous Tiananmen Square event.

Life was usual. Travelers around the world mixed with domestic pilgrims. Life was flowing peacefully. Amid the crowd, I felt the deep silence of a Chinese chess game at its hottest checkmate. We pretended knowing nothing about the past, about history.

Coming here, I didn’t pay much attention to the politic. My main concern was having my hundred rolls of both negative and slide films undergo the continuous scans for new “911” air-transport regulations.

A tiger kills a man then enjoy his dream. A man kills a man then stirs and frets at dead of night.
It’s been 2 years since the day I took this poor snapshot.
Posting it here today, I wish all the deceased to rest in peace, and all the living ones a life in love.

Hi Thanh,
Thanks for posting this. I think it's pretty important.
I love Tiananmen Square... I spent almost every day there for a little over two weeks. I made some great friends there... Chinese photographers. We couldn't talk, but they were always kind to me (the beginner) and were kind enough to take me along to a local photography exhibition/competition.
It's certainly not something I will forget and next time I'm in Beijing (it's looking like late-2007 at the earliest now... a little close to "Beijing 2008" for my liking) I'll be back.
Thanks for sharing this and your thoughts. I like the photo a lot but I'm going to post this without a rating as a sign of respect.
Lewis.
