A young boy selling snacks on the bridge in Zhu Jia Jiao, an ancient water town which flourished during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644 just 30 kms from Shanghai. And it could be a million kms away, teh contrast is so great.

Elaine

Beautiful composition, captured the feel of the water town perfectly. Perfect exposure as well. Just want to say that the cloth the boy wears is a traditional Chinese cloth, we don't wear that anymore. Thanks for sharing.

interesting street scene here elaine
love the colors and tones here

Great shot with excellent colours and a perfect DOF. Congratulations.
Antonio

Bonjour Elaine

o) sorry - I come back

great shot ... beautiful sensation
but I think this shot could be better if you did not cut the foot of boy
thanks for sharing

Hi, Elaine!
Beautiful portrait with beautiful back view. Nice composition of perspective. Will be even better if he will look to other side, not outside of picture. But can be also this look a continuation for his emotions - don`t make pictures here, I have not the best life and have to work here..
Regards,
Ivars.

Hi Elaine, a fine compo which would already be nice without the boy, but with him and that statue it makes a complete photo! Great DOF and POV , nice colors in apparently bad weather... and excellent sharpness.
Well done
Laurent

Hi Elane,
I find it so hard to take a good pic' when the sky is that greyish and doesn't show any cloud details...That's something I got to improve in my photographs. Here, the grey is intense and the contrast is excellent. Bravo!
I like the composition , tha boy looking away, like tired of walking around and the yumme details of the snacks he sells. Very nice pic. TFS ;o)
cheers,
Pris.

Hi Elaine

You captured this man very fine. Great depth, excellent POV, very nice colors. A marvelous shot.

Hi Elaine.

This is really fine photo. Good composed, excellent colour balance. This boy seems like he is coming out (in fact he is) from thousands of years old culture represents from excellent diagonal positions of buildings behind hime near the river.
Excellent work

Stunning shot, Elaine, no two ways about it. Perfectly framed with precise DOF and that view all the way down the river. Shanghai with its Gotham-like madness and building boom so close and yet so far...
Great stuff!
Francis

hi elaine
feels like a traditional slice of chinese life, i like the composition and perspective chosen.

Hi Elaine,

Welcome back :)

What a well composed image. Again it is clear to us that you have thought of the details....the way you have included the boat and the "thing" on the bridge adding a good depth to the image. The light on the boy is good and so is the brown colour to add contrast to the image.

:) Tina

i quite like this shot for the perspective and the scene, but there is a contrast problem in this one IMO... it is like there was a veil on the photo, dimming the colors and the tones... PS can probably solve this problem.

Hello, Elaine :)
Good to see you´re back!
what i love the most in your picture (besides the whimsical composition) is this greenish tint it has. what should be a straight blown out sky is smoothly rendered.
oh, the feet...

Hi Elaine, you certainly are a world hopper! A quick tour around China, why not?! A very well composed shot for this first posting - love how you include the sculpture on the bridge, the boats in the back and how the eye reaches all the way to the bridge in the far back. Lovely ranch of tones too - perhaps a touch to yellow in the water, but I'm sure that exactly how it looked like. A very nice work! Sabine

PS have shot some photos in RAW myself a while back...but can not even open them! It seems you are a few tricks ahead of me!

Hello Elaine! You are in China??? How exciting... and already posting! Fantastic, wonderful, beautifully conceived shot all the way. THe composition with the boy as well as the water town in perfect focus makes this irresistible... fantastic work!

So nice compo, Elaine!
Large DOF,oppressing atmospher because of this grey sky.

Hi Elaine, welcome back.
I already saw this one this morning but had to rush (to the Dalai Lama in Antwerp ;-)))
I love the colors and the angle, the way you captured him while he's sitting very relaxed on the railing is quite nice.
Good colors! Good luck with the work.

Hi Elaine
Beautiful PoV. With the vendor sitting all alone waiting for his next customer, you have "directed" him into the "picture" that give an excellent composition.
Simply a cool shot, Elaine.

Wow!..
A wonderful Tilt & a mesmerising Shot!...
The colours play a enchanting dance with the original expression of the subject.
Cheers,
Prem.

Hi Elaine,
excellent compo, very well balanced with an excellent perspective.
This place is so peaceful and only 30 km from the vibrating city of Shanghai !
Good color tones, well done

Hello Elaine,

I am happy to see you posing regularly again and this one is great. You successfully captured the mood of the place. I also like how you framed it with the nice town in the BG.

nice shot, good composition.. i love the perspective here..yellow tones are very nice too..
Greetings.

hi elaine, a cool shot, compo etc is superb but what i love most is that desaturation technique you have applied here resultingin an interesting lighting across the image with the model nicely lit, while the background being "covered" by sort of dull tinalty;
nice work,
best wishes, j.

This is a very nice picture. I love the atmosphere that you rendered extremely well . I feel as if i was taking a break with this guy. Bravo.

a good (environmental) portrait with surprisingly rich details in the bg (considering the aperture)... perhaps a bit empty on the river in the left.. nice colours, maybe just a tad too orangy...

Elaine,
This photo has a timeless quality to it and it transports me to a completely different culture and time (seemingly) without me even being there. Wonderful.

wow very nice ! the deep bg creates a good depth for the pic ! china looks so interestimng to me ...

Hello Elaine,
The view and his face are total different worlds. When I look at the view, I feel the freedom and the openness but while I look at his face, I see worriness and sadness.
Well taken shot. Regards, Ramy.
