Photographer’s Note
Title built for fun aggregating "China" and "Lippo" for the two main towers you see on this photo, to the right the Bank of China, 369m high, built in 1990 and remaining to me despite completion of higher towers and bad feng shui the most fascinating of the Hong Kong skyline, to the left the Lippo Centre, 186m high, built in 1988.
The view is taken from a corner of Statue Square using an angle that allows to get both towers around the Legislative Council Building, opened 1912, which is the colonial style building lit at their bottom behind this unavoidable bus stop.
Constrasting architectures and times, combined with a race to ever better buildings, this is Hong Kong, while you are viewing this photo, building continues frenetically.

Bonjour JY
The lighting delineates nicely the famous Bank of China building with its instantly recognisable geometry. Your POV provides an interesting contrast between modern and traditional architecture, though I think this shot would benefit from being taken earlier before complete darkness to make the buildings stand out better against the sky, and perhaps more zoomed in so we can appreciate better the architectural detail.
Bonne journee, Susanna

Well composed, Jean Yves! The high-rising tower draw the gaze up and gives a strong vetical feel to this post, with good night urban lights. The perspective is very good, giving depth to this night skyline of Hong Kong.
Well done!

Standard Terror. Straight photography in its finest. Nothing to criticize here. The nighttime exposure is dramatic. Nice cold modern lines of the BoC building contrasting with the warm color and forms of the older style building. New and old together in perfect symphony.

Salut JY. I think Rafal's wording of "Standard Terror" sums it up quite nicely, LOL. A quite interesting blend of the interplay between old and new architectural elements, and well handled from a tech perspective, too. I was thinking the same as Susanna about the time but then again you can't always be at the right place at the right time and this one came out well enough in terms of details rendered.

Hello JY,

Bonjour Jean-Yves,
I like composition of this picture, supported by diagonal made by the tops of the skyscrapers from right down to the left. Also the colours are fine and clear. Very well done.
Thanks,
Marek

Salut Jean Yves
Fantastic sharpness. The 'Bank of China' highrise, is nicknamed 'the knife in the heart of Hong Kong'. Apparently, in Feng Shui, sharp angular shapes, are supposed to be unlucky.

Hi Jean Yves,
having returned from Hong Kong only yesterday, your photo made my mouth water again for its beautiful skyline. And now, I'll have serious doubts about posting any of my Hong Kong photos here on TE, for they don't even come close to your combination of clarity and details...
Thanks for sharing

Great combination of different buildings from different styles and even different eras. I like the artificial light too, which shows these in a different way than daylight would. Great work!

Hi Jean-Yves. You really nailed the technical details of this night shot. I don't see any noise plus the colors are very realistic. It's very sharp too. Well done Jean-Yves!

Salut Jean-Yves,

Hello there Pak Jean
An awesome night shot that puts the sharpness and clarity to the extend and felt!
And what a wonderful idea of putting the title in Chinese word. Bravo.
So, by the way, do you know how to read and write in chinese!!
Great job, Pak Jean.

Hello JY,

Tres bien expose ton image.

Hi Jean Yves,
A nice mixture of old & new. Well exposed and good reddish sky. The architect of Bank of China also designed that triangle museum in the Louvre of Paris :) Btw, did you manage to get some shots from the night show?

Hello,

Hey Jean,
No other city is quite like this. A city of many cultures balanced between the present and the future. Lovely clean capture, sharp and well balanced composition!
