Shown in the photo is the old road cross the Tian Shan Mountian, which connects the northern and southern part of xinjiang...it is not chosen by the major traffic stream nowadays, as the modern motoway though longer in distance is far more easier and safer to travel. In fact, I ve only seen few local trucks and tourist hired 4x4 during my journey on this route. The view on this route is stunning, the gorgeous Tian Shan Mountain lies in front of me all the way through the trip...superb!

Taken during the xinjiang part of my cycling trip in 2002. This was one of the most memorable trip I ve done, It took me nearly 7 months to cycle the entire north west part of my mother China, starting from Sichuan province in south central all the way through to Tibet, Xinjiang, Gansu and finished in Qinghai province on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau....Nature is rigorous, but as you make the effort to get closer, it offers the invaluable reward.
