Photographer’s Note
*** Please Click Here or On the Picture To See the Panorama! ***
Taken 15 minutes until midnight, Wan Chai observatory point. Because it was that late, this panorama was quite different to those panoramas you would normally see of Hong Kong.
The buildings here are actually less colourful since most of the lights have been switched off. But I like the distinctive feeling it gives when there are less lights.
The tall building near the centre of picture is the Central Plaza in Wan Chai, it was the tallest building in HK until the 88th floor IFC 2 came into existance few years ago. You can spot the IFC 2 to the far left, but it is quite faint.
And the yellow-ish lights in the far distance are from the Kowloon peninsula just across the harbour.
Hope you enjoy the picture & I appreciate all sorts of comments :)
P.S.
1)This is only a cropped version of the panorama you can see when you CLICK on the PICTURE. (I cropped it to fit TE's requirement of minimum 250 pixels)
2)I used auto-stich to combine the 5 photographs I took.
3) And PLEASE SEE the two Workshop posts I posted
I saw two VERY SERIOUS photographers at work! Risking their lives! (- just to get a better PoV of this place - )...NEVER attempt what those guys were doing!!
Tech: Adjusted levels, sharpened, resized.

Bonsoir Cheuk

Daniel.

Hi Thomas,
Great attempt of panorama. I could tell there would be quite a few works to combine five pics though I do not know well. Virtually sharp and neat, I do like it. I notice the very middle part was even illuminated strongly. Though I would prefer a more brilliant and colourful one as mentioned in your note. It's informative to place both IFC and Central Plaza together, thx:)
Really nice work and interesting POV.
See ya,
Mi

Hi CheukHin, I agree with you that the deep into the night city view provide a different scene than the time when all the lights were on. This view provides a better depth and a balance of different buildings. Thanks for large version to show the details and thanks for the extra photos about the serious photographers. A well done stitching job.

This is one of the best shots i have seen of HK at night. I have tried many times with little success. You should be very pleased with this result...it is a keeper

Exquisite night shot, CHeukin, and even though you didn't attempt to risk your life, it looks fantastic! Honestly, a very exotic locale to me, certainly not a sleepytown, even with the lights out... great stiching, too.
Good night,
sasa
PS soon off to Budapest for a month... no TE for a while...

Hi Cheuk Hin,
The large version is just great, so many things to look at and discover! The assembly work is perfect and I really like the brownish coloured sky and the cloudy effect around the buildings.

Hi Cheuk Hin,
A nice and very sharp one, very good despite the difficult weather conditions over HK on these days, PoV is interesting oo as it is unusual to see Bank of China left of the blue/green building (dunno what it is yet, should study the map), well stitched pano.
Have a nice evening,
Jean-Yves

Hi Cheuk Hin - true, the city lights are not as colourful as the typical angle taken from Tsim Tsa Tsui well I forget the name, the opposite shore, you know what I mean, still enough light emanating from below to lighten the cloud cover, nice and original.

Hi Cheuk-Hin. I like this late-night panorama of HK, the fact that many of the lights in the buildings are turned off gives a special and surprising intimacy to this view. An ideal candidate for a large-pano presentation for which the stitching work turned out very good. I could look for minutes at the large version and still think I haven't seen everything. Very nice work, well exposed and presented.

Hi Cheuk!!
Ótima perspectiva nesta criativa e forte composição, criando uma boa sensação de profundidade. Ótimo esse motivo, principalmente apresentado dessa maneira, e ainda com lindas, texturas cores e contrastes. Ótimo trabalho.

Hi Cheuk
A marvellous panorama of the HK skyline. I have been to Victoria Peak in 2004, & this is not an easy shot. Tfs!
