Photographer’s Note
This day was Saturday afternoon,
the sun shined, the wind blowed.
it was reported that sandstorm would be hit Beijing,
but we were used to this.
the Spring in Beijing just like this.
many boys went out for playing basketball in the Hutong.
I just bought a digital camera, Nikon D50.
My lens of course focus on them.
i am a new comer in the digital camera,
anything is new to me too.

This is really good, Mingfang, the way you use shadows dynamically all the way down the vertical.
A new vantage point for you, more magic from the Beijing streets!
How do you like handling the 28mm (I use quite a lot these days)...
best,
Francis

ei, Mingfaang!
Congratulations on getting a digital camera for you! Now I guess I can see your work pieces more frequently. Good use of the lights and shadows. And dynamic movements of the kids. I am looking forward to seeing your photos, hehe.

Hello Mingfang, so nice to see you back. I miss your Beijing shots that have changed my entire way of seeing your world... thank to you. Keep posting please!
I like this shot, the shadows cast and the boys still seen. The little hand with open fingers is a nice part of the image for me. Shows that they indeed are in action.

welcome back Mingfang, you have been missed.
I see you have new toy, doesn't matter what you use, a toy in your hands becames a valuable tool, regardless if it's film or digital. I hope you will continue using both, IMO film and digital can complement each other very well.
Nice photo, can tell it's not a film, can also tell it's Mingfang, dynamic, well composed, light a bit harsh but not too bad.

hi mingfang! good luck with your new "toy"!.. a nice "sportshot" from the hutongs.. i hope you survived the sandstorm (i remember them in korea...) an excellent compo here, with great shadows of course, just wish perhaps we could see more details on the kids faces (i'm sure some of those shadows could be brought out in photoshop..) and the lens flare especially is just too disturbing for me :-( ... too bad, because otherwise it's a great photo!

Hi Mingfang! Oh, I am so glad to see a photo from your new camera. I see you are making some good shots with it! i really like the shadows, they are the stars of the image. Yes, the light is harsh but it doesn't bother me too much. I like that you have the spot of green light on here, it adds a raw feeling to it. Well done and keep it up!
