A view fom my high rise hotel in Chongqing. (The Shipin Dasha). There are 2 regular passenger cablecars across the Yangzi River, that only cost 1.4 yuan (about 15 cents US), & are used by locals commuting to & from the cbd. I later went on 1 of these cablecars, & got some good shots of the riverside expressway & docks. (I have already uploaded several images).

If you peer through the fog, you can see 2 ships in the river.

Hi Chris,
This is quite a striking contrast subjectwise!
Fine composition of the best ChrisJ quality, quite good details too during something looking like a hazy day...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Chris,
Amazing contrast in architecture.A very moody shot,I like the soft colors here a lot.
Greetings,
Hermann

Bonjur Chris,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Namaste Chris
A very strong urban photograph..so familiar with my country. The cable car adds to the interest & yes I saw the ships through the fog, before reading your note
Well done
Regards
Angshu

Bonjour Chris,
Etonnante image où la misère côtoie le modernisme. J'aime beaucoup l'ambiance dégagée par cette prise de vue. En effet, l'on voit (l'on distingue), les bateaux noyés dans la brume.
Excellente photo reportage.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Hi Chris,
Good impression of the city and the city-life. The fog and the grey colours show a gloomy site, not pleasant but a very good picture.
Thanks and regards, Gerrit

This probably would be a successful B&W too. I love the way the near-ramshackle houses are so clear and sharp and the modern high-rises are becoming shrouded in the fog.
Kath

Hi Chris. Interesting contrast between the old quarter of town and the highrises in the back. The cable car is a well-placed add, and the low-key colors work fine, too. Greetings from Osaka.

Hi Chris,
A well composed shot that well portrays the stark contrast between the modernism of the high rises and the older tenement style buildings. I like the lighting and shadow effects on these foreground structures. The freighters in the harbour are indeed visible in the fog as well. Superb graphism in this interesting shot, Chris. Very well captured.
John

Hi Chris
This city is very dirty. Beurk !
You captured this very well. The cable car seem made for coal transporting !! The misty atmosphere, as most of time in China, enhance the dirty and poor aspect.
Cheers
JP

Hello Chris, This is a good testimony of life in our world, showing that photo has not to be always from a beautiful place. Those building are really ugly, the sky is great and foggy, it looks pretty "deprimant" (don't know it in english). Thank for this sad view of our world.

Great view, Chris this is so typical of 'modern' China. Pollution and congestion of urban buildings...cities r nasty places...
Good capture of the quite famous cable car of Chongqing. Also v. gd capture of the sad atmoshpere there.
Rgrds,
Cheukhin

Hi Chris, I have many reasons to visit Chongqing. However, I have never set foot to this special city yet. Thanks for this picture to show the combination of the old and the new, and the special foggy character in one picture. Nice PoV and good DoF.

Hi Chris. To me it looks like haze but I'll take your word for it since you were the one who was there! You might be able to increase the contrast to reduce the fog. tfs Chris.

Hi Chris...
It's a perfect composition and wonderful contrast between the buildings, my friend... The light and perspective are also perfect... Of course perfect shot as usual...
TFS...
Stay well..
Salim.

What an atmosphere!
You are right,I can see those ship, what a distance !
a special superb foggy view in an urban situation,
The cabel car is very strong in this composition although it's very small in scale, but it shows itself strongly, and now it goes to theme :)

nicely worked,Chris,

Best
M

Well timed waiting for the car to appear in the pale part of the image, interesting also to see a baot in the haze. Interesting contrasting architecture.

Hello Chris,
Such a sad view over this chaotic and the growing old buildings.
I generally like pics over the house roofs, and this one is very well caught.

Great shot of the air pollution that is so endemic in many parts of China these days Chris. These are the sorts of shots that I don't think the Chinese tourism ministry really want to see on TE, but it is the 'real' China (away from the new high rises of Shanghai that is). Good contrast on the buildings in the foreground. I hope the cable car felt safer than some of the ones that I have been on in China! Cheers . . . David

Hi Chris - eurgh, not pretty, and not intended to be, then again China's large cities (except HKG of course) are the ugliest on the planet, and this is the perfect smoggy example.
