The Yangzi River, which drains an area of 1,800,000 km˛ (694,980 mi˛) empties into the sea, not too far north of here. The river is about 6,380 km long. (Source: Wikipedia). The East China Sea here is discolored for many kilometres / miles out to sea, & after the turquoise seas of Australia & Thailand, this is quite a surprise.

The temple is on Putuoshan Island, & is called Fanyin. It straddles a cleft in the rock, & arches across 2 cliffs. I found this info on the net:

"The Fanyin Cave (Cave of Buddhist Sound) is sandwiched between two steep cliffs of some 100 meters in height. The cave winds its way towards the sea. When the sea swells, the waters pour into the cave with thunderous roars."

The bridge across the chasm, can be seen here:

hi chris, this is a lovely composition with the fragment of the roof right in the corner,
what i like a lot is the unusual colour of the sea, no blue, no sandy yellow, not even green but browny, similiar to the rock;
very interesting;
best, j.

Hi Chris.

Nice POV. The composition with the temple on the left side and the water everywhere is great. I like it.

Regards, Oscar

Hi Chris, very nice compo with unusual colors of the sea, from superb POV, rgds, Daniel

Hi Chris!
Very beautiful shot. POV, DOF, colors, composition and framing are marvelous. TFS. Congratulations...

Hi Chris,
I like this original composition, with the mix of images, both the roof of the temple and the pattern of the rock cliff in the back. The lack of contrasts bettween them make an abstract pattern them pleases me. Good balance with the open view on the right, to the far away sea and well done with the inclusion of the fence. The colour of the water doesn't surprise me, as it is the normal colour of this huge river.
TFS,
Ricardo

Hi Chris,
The roof details against the rocks are
a surprising and contrasting detail.Excellent compo and framing and a strong perspective with a lot of depth.
Greetings,
Hermann

Hi Chris, amazing view, took from an excellent POV with a beautiful view on the brown sea. the small part of the pagoda roof is well composed.
thanks, ciao

What a surprising place to build a temple - very interesting. Good composition to include the temple roof which points the way into the frame.

Hi Chris,
The curving of the rocks together with the vegetations gives a nice composition, also the sea and the little misty atmosphere bring a good picture, you did good addition with the small part roofs to left.
Best regards,
John.

Very interesting shot! I like the way you placed the roof of the building down in the corner, but angled upward into the centre of the frame. Excellent work, and informative too.

Hi Chris, A well composed picture to show the famous Putuoshan and the place where the Yangtze River meets the ocean. You have well depicted the steep rock cliff and the temple on the side of the cliff together with the stairs. I have never been there, although I hope I could go to there someday. I am not sure if the temple is the famous Puji Temple, where a Guanyin statue is located.

Hi Chris,
Very pretty composition. The nice detailed texture of the temple roof contrasts very well with the vast expanse of water of background. Good effective perspective.
Best regards,
Cheukhin

Hi Chris, nice far ranging view, love the temple element thatintroduces it, greetings from Tokyo, JY

Hi Chris. You have no shortage of depth and DOF here. I'm not too sure how wild I am about the composition. tfs Chris.

Meaning Sense :-)
Framing :-)
Idea :-))

"vertigineux" and if this is a search for effect a real succes, the fence is giving the depth; Realy a nice one with the special roof here.
